Mark Stewart+Maffia

My introduction to political angst expressed through a brutal noisy musical form, going all the left was Stewart+Maffia´s second album As The Veneer of Democracy Starts to Fade. I had a cassette that had that on one side at Public Enemy´s first album on the other- Coarse sandpaper lyrical delivery sitting on top of gated, compressed, delayed, reverbed, processed musical fuckery produced by Adrian Sherwood, Doug Wimbish, Skip McDonald and Keith le Blanc battling the new upstarts in hip hop, Public Fucking Enemy...c-90 heaven to rass.

All this to say Mark Stewart+Maffia have a new album, Edit, coming to speakers near you soon. A couple of tracks are on his myspace.

"Your head weighs a ton, your gonna vanish"

Here, Mark waxes on the new Portishead album.

Below, Resistance of the Cell.
